I have seen people self-diagnose through those sites, and then become nervous about every little ailment. I think people underestimate the experience and training of physicians and sometimes use sites as their main source of knowledge, rather than a professional with a detailed history of their patients. That’s just like a physician searching the Internet for job advice, rather than working with a skilled recruiter as a coach throughout the job search process.
